Charity Champion or Volunteer of the Year nomination – Pat Roberts

Pat Roberts has been a steadfast beacon of compassion, dedication and generosity at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity for more than 16 years.

Pat’s influence spans all six counties the charity serves, making her a truly regional force for good. Since joining in 2009 Pat, from Shenstone, has consistently gone above and beyond to champion the mission. Her background in television has made her a natural communicator and she was one of the first volunteers to deliver talks in the community — paving the way for the outreach the charity does today.

Pat’s presentations are heartfelt, informative and deeply inspiring, and to date she’s delivered more than 350 talks, with more scheduled in the months ahead.

In the last year alone Pat donated more than 140 hours of her time despite facing health challenges that have affected her mobility and driving. Her unwavering commitment and determination to raise awareness of our lifesaving work remain as strong as ever.

Sandon, near Stone, holds a special place in Pat’s heart. Over the years, she’s become a familiar and beloved figure in the community, attending local events and giving talks that have made her a local celebrity.

Pat’s nominator said: “Even after 16 years Pat approaches every opportunity with the same enthusiasm and purpose as when she began. She is a role model, tireless advocate and true ambassador for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

“Her humility is one of her most admirable qualities. She never seeks recognition yet her impact is felt everywhere — from fundraising events and merchandise sales to mentoring new volunteers.

“She’s personally recruited and trained 10 volunteers including Sally McMahon, who now joins her as a dynamic duo at talks. Together they’re top sellers of the charity’s Christmas cards, especially at Women’s Institute and Rotary Club meetings.”
